The curriculum developed by the Newark Methodist Preschool has been structured to meet the guidelines in the DELAWARE EARLY LEARNING FOR SCHOOL SUCCESS document developed by the Delaware Department of Education.

Purpose:
The primary goal of the preschool program is to
encourage the development of the total child in
a positive and caring environment. Mutual
acceptance, respect and trust are fundamental
aspects of this program.
The preschool program will serve as a transition
from home to the "community" and will strive to:
- Provide a warm, accepting
and positive school
atmosphere.
- Help children recognize
their own special
characteristics and
abilities; self-esteem, self-
control, and independence
are encouraged in every
aspect of our program.
- Provide appropriate and
professional guidance
from trained and loving
teachers who plan
carefully to meet each
child's individual needs.
- Help each child handle and
verbalize emotions in
appropriate ways while
respecting the child's right
to feel anger, impatience,
- Share with children the
wonder and beauty of the
world we live in.
- Offer a wide variety of
activities and hands-on
experiences.
