Newark Methodist Preschool is a play based preschool program

for children ages 2 through 5.

We believe children learn best through play.

Our teachers and classrooms provide students with hands on experiences and opportunities designed to help them learn and grow throughout the year. Room activities and group times are planned to enhance all areas of a child’s development: cognitive, language, sensory, physical, social, and emotional, and help to lay the foundation for formal education.

 

We focus on the whole child.

Throughout the school year, classes will work on many developmentally appropriate concepts such as numbers, letters, colors, shapes, and basic math concepts such as counting and patterning. They will practice gross and fine motor skills, participate in music and movement, and explore stories. Social emotional development is also a large focus as students practice participating in group activities, taking turns, sharing, practicing self regulation and self help skills, and learning how to interact with teachers and peers.

Our program strives to ensure that each classroom is staffed to best support our students and their growth and learning in a safe, nuturing, and welcoming environment.
